Weekend Market Finds

Morning everyone! Just got back from the market in Stellenbosch. Found the most amazing stall selling homemade rusks — the kind my ouma used to make.

That sounds wonderful, Lindiwe! Which stall was it? I've been hunting for proper buttermilk rusks for ages.

It's called Ouma Ria's Kitchen, right near the entrance. She's there every Saturday. Tell her John sent you and she might throw in a free sample!

Adding that to my list for this weekend. Anyone else got market tips to share? The kids and I are planning a family outing.

If you're heading to the Cape Town market, the potters near the back have beautiful handmade mugs. Perfect for winter rooibos.

What Neighbours Say After Joining

Real notes from members who turned a quiet read into a regular Saturday habit.

I posted about the leaking geyser on Tuesday and by Thursday a plumber from the next suburb had messaged me with a fair quote. That never happens on the big social sites.

Lindiwe Nhlapo — Randburg

The weekend market thread helped me find a stall that sells proper boerewors rolls, not the sad ones from the petrol station. My kids now ask to go every Sunday.

Hon. Thulani Parker — Pretoria East

Asked for advice on painting exterior walls and got three solid replies with paint brands that actually hold up in the Highveld sun. Saved me a weekend of trial and error.

John Dhlamini — Boksburg

Joined for the photo challenge, stayed for the braai thread. People here share recipes and then argue kindly about the right way to season lamb. It feels like a real neighbourhood.

Nomsa Mokoena — Durbanville

Found a family-friendly outing idea for the school holidays without scrolling through ads. The Karoo itinerary was exactly what we needed, and the kids still talk about the star-gazing night.
